requirements.

applicant must obtain a NSW Record of Service Book or (R.O.P.E.S) and complete the applicable General Purpose Hand Section.

an application for Recognition as a General Purpose Hand from your nearest NSW Maritime office.
- Complete

an eyesight/medical assessment. Use current NSW Maritime medical form. This can be obtained from their website.

qualification entitles the holder to engage in the operations and servicing of diesel inboard
engines to a maximum of 500kW within 15 nautical miles from the coast or 250 kW up to 100 nautical miles from the coast

Masters of Commercial Vessels are required to hold a valid marine radio operators certificate. Normally included as part of existing courses i.e. Coxswain,MC5/SK3.
This can also be offered as a stand alone course eg.
2 day instructional course including examination.
